Start with the elastic front and rear hems pulled in snug. In high wind, add a Gust Strap: it clips to the cover's lower edge and its cords run under the car, not through the grommets. The side grommets take a cable lock. Thunderstorm gusts can reach 100 mph, so when a severe storm is on the way, a garage is the better place for the car.
Let the car dry first. A cover should go on a dry vehicle. If the cover comes off wet, let it air-dry before you fold it away.
